Hello Students!

Page

Congratulations to Eliot for adding 30 songs to his Piano Repertoire Jar!

PIANO REPERTOIRE PROJECT

rep·er·toire (noun):  the collection of music a pianist is prepared to perform.

Each student is given a glass mason jar and some blank popsicle sticks for their Piano Repertoire Project!

The Goal:
The goal is for students to build their repertoire and confidence at the piano by having songs they are prepared to perform–anytime, anyplace!

The How:
When students master a song they love, they write the song on a popsicle stick and add it to their Piano Repertoire Jar.  The popsicle sticks become a fun physical representation of all the pieces a student has mastered and is prepared to perform.  To keep the pieces “fresh,” students continue to review the songs regularly and leisurely so they always have pieces ready to play–for themselves or for friends and family.

The Future:
The Repertoire Jar can be kept for years to come, and the number of popsicle sticks representing the student’s repertoire should be continuously growing, as they progress through their musical journey!

The Milestones:
Milestones are commemorated with special badges and charms gifted to students to add to their jar:

– 3 songs: Personalized name tag
– 10 songs: “Live. Learn. Play!” piano badge
– 30 songs: Treble clef charm
– 50 songs:  Double eighth notes charm
– 100 songs:  Surprise!
